Financial Leadership for Nurse Entrepreneurs

You spent years mastering your clinical craft. Running the financial side of a business is different.Simple Finances Fractional CFO Image

Most nurses learn it the hard way. They watch the bank balance, wait for the tax return, and make big decisions on gut feeling. That works early on. It stops working as the business grows.

A fractional CFO knows your numbers. She helps you build the financial systems your business needs. And she helps you make better decisions — without a full-time executive on payroll.

Simple Finances® works with registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals building their own businesses. Small business owners outside healthcare are welcome here too.

A bookkeeper records what happened. A tax preparer reports what happened. A fractional CFO helps you decide what should happen next.

Here is what that includes:

  • Monthly review of your financial statements with plain-language commentary.
  • Cash flow management and a four-week cash forecast. You see problems before they hit.Simple Finances Cash Flow Image
  • Break-even analysis. You know the minimum your business needs to cover its costs.
  • Profit and margin review by service line. You know which work pays and which does not.
  • Owner pay planning so you pay yourself on a schedule, not whenever the account looks good.
  • Pricing review so your prices cover what they need to cover.
  • Financial modeling before you hire, borrow, or add a service.
  • Tax reserve tracking and coordination with your tax preparer.
  • Ongoing work to make your business worth more.

Simple Finances® does not prepare tax returns. CFO clients work with a separate tax preparer for all filing. We work alongside that person on planning and reserves.

Retainer Tiers

All engagements start with a 90-day minimum. Every retainer begins with a Business Financial Health Assessment at no added cost. This sets the baseline and the agenda for the first 90 days.

Tier Monthly Fee Hours/Month Best For
Starter $1,000 4-6 hours Pre-revenue or just launched. Planning stage. Building the financial foundation before revenue arrives.
Core $1,500 6-8 hours Early revenue up to $250K. Business is open but needs cash flow, reporting, and consistent profit.
Growth $2,500 10-12 hours Revenue between $250K and $1M. Staff, multiple service lines, or more complex financial needs.

Bookkeeping Add-On

Bookkeeping is an add-on for active CFO retainer clients only. It is not a standalone service. It is not available to clients referred through tax preparer partner relationships.

CFO Tier Add-On Fee Includes
Starter $300/month Monthly transaction entry, bank and credit card reconciliation, and profit and loss report. QuickBooks Online.
Core $400/month All Starter items plus accounts receivable and payable tracking, monthly balance sheet, and financial report package.
Growth $500-$750/month Full bookkeeping services. Priced at the start of the engagement based on transaction volume.

Not Ready for a Retainer?

Project work is a good place to start. Each project delivers value on its own and is built to lead into a retainer.

Cash Flow Crisis Assessment $500 For businesses short on cash. Finds the cause, maps the next four weeks, and delivers a clear plan.
Pricing Audit $400-$600 Reviews your pricing against what your business costs to run. Delivers a written analysis with recommended changes and projected impact.
